In this episode, we explore what does a Functional Capacity Assessment involve, and why is it so important for NDIS participants.
Functional Capacity Assessments, often called FCAs, play an important role in helping people access the right supports through the NDIS. They look at how a person functions across different areas of daily life, where challenges exist, and what supports are necessary to help them live as independently as possible.
We sit down with Shane Orton, an Occupational Therapist and Team Leader at LiveBig, who completes FCAs regularly. Shane walks us through what an FCA is, what the assessment process looks like in practice, and what happens after the assessment is complete. He also shares reassurance and practical advice for anyone feeling overwhelmed by the idea of having an FCA.
